When these two teams met earlier this tournament, Bangladesh won pretty easily against West Indies, chasing down 260+ with 8 wickets to spare. Once again, Bangladesh are slight favourites to go on to win this game as their game involves a lot more maturity than the flamboyant Windies team. However, this game is a dead rubber. Both these teams will meet in the final of the Ireland tri-series later this week.
It has been a pacer’s delight so far in Ireland but remember, someone like Kemar Roach has only picked 2 wickets in 3 games here. As for Bangladesh, they have only played one full game thus far while their opponents have played three. Keep reading for our complete Howzat (sign-up with code “READ1234”) fantasy preview here…

West Indies
All of the top wicket-takers this series have been pacers, with the exception of Ashley Nurse, who picked all his 4 wickets in one game, then went wicketless for the next two. Picking two pacers from each team won’t be such a bad idea. Jason Holder has only 1 wicket and 41 runs in 3 games so far and considering he won’t be picked by a big percentage of fantasy teams, here’s your chance to score some value.
Shannon Gabriel has 6 wickets in 3 games so far and even though he was taken to the cleaners in the last meeting between these two, I’ll pick him. He dominated Bangladesh during the test series earlier. After his 179 in the opening ODI, John Campbell has been out of action with a sore back and he will likely miss this game as well. Fabian Allen could be an x-factor all-rounder in your fantasy team.
Bangladesh
Picking the wicket-keeper in your Howzat (sign-up with code “READ1234”) fantasy team could be the deal-breaker here. With Shai Hope having 309 runs in 3 games this tournament and scoring a century against Bangladesh last time around, a huge percentage of fantasy teams will have him. Expect a few early wickets and take a gamble by selecting Mushfiqur Rahim instead. He was one of Bangladesh’s 3 players to score 50+ the last time they met.
The other two were openers Soumya Sarkar and Tamim Iqbal, and I’ll have both these south paws in my team. Although this isn’t a spinning wicket, Shakib al Hasan is the world’s best all-rounder so he is my captain for today. With the ball, Mashrafe Mortaza must be one of your options, especially given his 3/49 when they last played Windies a few days back.
