Chennai
There are a couple of things that need sorting out for CSK. Do they bat Murali Vijay at #4? Someone who hits the ball sweetly during powerplay overs is not being utilized well if he bats lower down. Trying him as opener and dropping Faf du Plessis to #3 could help. Shane Watson is a man for big occasions and I think he will look to go big right from ball one and repay all the faith CSK has shown in him even though he has had a bad season.
Dwayne Bravo has gone wicketless in the last 5 games in IPL 2019 and considering he barely gets a hit, I’m skipping him from my fantasy team. With the ball, pick Imran Tahir and Harbhajan Singh as Deepak Chahar has also lost some steam, getting only 4 wickets in his last 5 games. Bhajji was only used in home games earlier but he has been brilliant, and is a much better option than Shardul Thakur. Ambati Rayudu looked better than he has all season in the last game, and is worth considering for your team.
Delhi
Rishab Pant has scored 450 runs this season and his last couple of innings have proven to be match winning ones as well. He has more runs than MS Dhoni (405) in IPL 2019 but the latter will still be my wicket-keeper pick considering it’s a ‘baap vs beta’ contest. I’ll stick with the most experienced and consistent duo of Shreyas Iyer and Shikhar Dhawan with the bat. However, beware of the Bhajji vs Dhawan contest.
The x-factor could be picking one of Colin Munro and Sherfane Rutherford. A comparatively less selection of teams are picking these two because of the heavy top order that Delhi possesses, which gives you a chance to score big if early wickets fall and these guys get a chance. Munro seemed to be hitting the ball cleanly in the last game and bats higher, so he’s my pick for this qualifier.
