IPL 2019 Match 7 – RCB vs MI Fantasy Preview

Here’s a match that almost every Indian Premier League (IPL) has been looking forward to ever since the season took off a few days back. Royal Challengers Bangalore have never tasted success in the IPL till date, but they have enjoyed a good rivalry against Mumbai Indians and now, they are set to play host to them once again, in Match 7 of IPL 2019, to be played in Bengaluru.

Both teams lost their respective first games, with Mumbai ensuring they continue their trend of not being able to start an IPL season with a victory. This pitch recently saw Australia chasing down a record 360+ in an ODI against India, so expect a batting-friendly encounter where 200+ is on the cards. IPL 2019 Match 7 - RCB vs MI fantasy preview

Stats

  • Moeen Ali’s strike rate as an opener – 148+; average 27+.
  • Krunal Pandya vs AB de Villiers – 33 runs, 32 balls, 4 dismissals.
  • In the last 6 H2H matches, Mumbai lead 5-1 against RCB.
  • ABD needs 38 runs to become the 10th player to 4,000 IPL runs.
  • Kohli needs 46 runs to become the 2nd player to 5,000 IPL runs.

Bangalore

RCB woes from IPL 2018 continued this season as they were bundled out for 70-odd runs against CSK. They have world-class batsmen in their ranks and they should take advantage of the fact that Mumbai is a slow starter in the IPL each year. RCB was a spinner or two short in the last game, but for this pitch, this may be the ideal team combination. However, knowing Kohli’s history as a captain, an unchanged side seems unlikely.

If Kohli isn’t comfortable batting as an opener, Moeen Ali is always an option, and this player should definitely be in your fantasy team, because of his all-round abilities. I’m packing my team with batsmen like Kohli, ABD and Shimron Hetmyer as this is a batting-friendly pitch. Remember, Marcus Stoinis and Nathan Coulter-Nile haven’t joined the squad yet, as they are in UAE, where the 3rd ODI just concluded..

Mumbai

Chasing becomes very easy here because of the dew factor and if Rohit Sharma wins the toss, expect him to bowl first. After Jasprit Bumrah had a small shoulder injury scare, we believe he is fit to play, but I’ll leave him out of my team because of his high popularity. Instead, I’d give the extra bowling option to Ben Cutting, who can also tonk some big hits with the bat.

Both the Pandya brothers also make my fantasy side, both also capable of being your captain/vice-captain. Yuvraj Singh took everybody by storm my starting IPL 2019 with a fifty, and while it was brilliant to watch the southpaw going great guns, he doesn’t get a place in my eleven. Instead, I’ll choose the ever consistent Suryakumar Yadav. With the ball, Lasith Malinga has been cleared to play IPL by SLC (Sri Lanka Cricket), but he may not feature in this match.
