Three teams have qualified this year and 4 teams will battle it out for the final spot in the 12th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), with only RCB officially out of contention. Now, Delhi Capitals take on Rajasthan Royals in the first match of this Saturday double header, which is also the penultimate day of round robin action this season.
Luckily for DC, they have already qualified but they will be looking to win and win big as that important finish in the top two is up for grabs. As for RR, the equation is simple – win and hope for other teams to act in their favour. Lose and pack your bags. However, their chances of qualification are every low. Delhi
After a couple of outstanding knocks, Prtihvi Shaw has been a little off colour in the last few games and has lost a lot of his ‘zing’, which has made me pick Shreyas Iyer and Shikhar Dhawan in every game, as these two guys have shown a lot more composure and maturity at the crease. I’ll repeat the same here, leaving Rishab Pant out too, as Sanju Samson bats higher up the order and has been hitting the ball cleaner.
The biggest blow for Delhi Capitals is that of Kagiso Rabada, who is the Purple Cap leader by a long way in IPL 2019. He is out for the rest of the tournament with a back niggle which considerably weakens their bowling attack. Chris Morris will be relied upon in the death overs but considering his poor returns this year, I may consider leaving him out.
Rajasthan
No Steven Smith anymore for Royals, which means the unlucky Rahul Tripathi finally finds his way back into the side. However, I won’t pick him as he has proven to be most effective as an opener, which he surely won’t be for this game as the Livingstone-Rahane combination has been doing well. Pick Riyan Parag over Stuart Binny as he gets his full quota of 4 overs and even bats higher up the order.
With the ball, majority of fantasy teams will be picking Varun Aaron, but with 5 wickets in 3 games, I’d go with the West Indian Oshane Thomas and you can’t miss the last over he bowled in the 5-over game against RCB, where he conceded only 6 runs. Jaydev Unadkat seems to have rediscovered his mojo and he also becomes a good pick for this game and the rest of IPL 2019.
