Match 4 of the 2019 Indian Premier League (IPL) and after this one, every franchise in the competition would’ve finished their respective first games. This match will take place between Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab, both of whom are desperate of getting their hands on some silverware. Rajasthan won the inaugural season back in IPL 2008, while Punjab is yet to win their first trophy.
The two teams had contrasting seasons in IPL 2018. Rajasthan Royals started slow and qualified for the playoffs on the back of Jos Buttler’s 5 consecutive fifties. As for Punjab, they started with 5/6 wins, and then ended with 1/8 wins in the back end of the tournament, being overly reliant on a few players. Keep reading for our fantasy preview of Match 4 of the ongoing IPL 2019.

Rajasthan
Everyone is going gaga over the mighty names like Steve Smith and the world’s best all-rounder, Ben Stokes. However, I’m going to dive straight into the first fantasy pick of my PlayerzPot (Use Code “READ1234”) fantasy side – Krishnappa Gowtham. This guy may not always bowl out his quota of 4 overs and forms a part of the lower middle order, but he always finds a way to contribute and proved last year than he can be a match-winner. I’d pick him as my captain, as he contributes with catches and run-outs too.
My overseas picks would be Stokes, Buttler, Smith and Jofra Archer. Trust me, this is probably going to be a fixed combination right through IPL 2019 and I want Buttler and Stokes in my side for sure, but as normal players. A huge majority will be selecting them as captain/vice-captain, so there won’t be much value in doing the same. I’m a huge fan of Archer too. Punjab
Two big names who won’t be a part of the first game are Andrew Tye and David Miller. Tye picked 24 wickets in IPL 2018 to end with the Purple Cap, but he’s currently with the Aussie ODI squad in UAE, while ‘Killer Miller’ just completed his home series against Sri Lanka. Nicholas Pooran is the ideal replacement for Miller and I’d have the former in my team, while Sam Curran is expected to make his IPL debut.
Everyone’s going to be picking Varun Chakravarthy after his record INR 8+ Crore price tag, but I’ll skip him for Curran and Mohammad Shami as my wicket-taking options, while Ravi Ashwin is a good pick as well. Despite Chris Gayle’s good form, I’m going to have to drop him to free up a bigger budget, while Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul are good selections; the latter is a good fantasy team captain too.
