IPL 2019 Match 31 – MI vs RCB Fantasy Preview

Here’s one rivalry that has entertained Indian Premier League (IPL) fans since quite a few years now. It’s Mumbai Indians playing another home game this season, now up against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Mumbai recently ended a 3-game winning streak with their loss to Rajasthan, while Bangalore recently ended a 6-game losing streak this year, beating Punjab in their last game.

It’s a simple equation for RCB – they have to win all their remaining 7 games in IPL 2019 if they want to be among the top 4 teams that progress to the play-offs, while Mumbai’s good start means they can relax a bit. It may not be too easy for RCB to get successive wins, given Wankhede has been a fortress for MI. Read our complete PlayerzPot (Use Code “READ1234”) fantasy preview of this game…

IPL 2019 Match 31 - MI vs RCB Fantasy Preview

Form (recent first)

  • MI: L W W W L W
  • RCB: W L L L L L

Stats

  • Yuzvendra Chahal has dismissed Quinton de Kock 3 times in 19 balls.
  • Chahal has conceded 29 runs in 31 balls against Rohit Sharma, with 1 dismissal.
  • In the reverse fixture, MI won by 6 runs.
  • Krunal Pandya vs AB de Villiers – 41 balls, 41 runs, 4 dismissals.

Mumbai

Mumbai may have lost their last game, but that batting order seems to be very dangerous, especially with Rohit Sharma getting a much needed 40-odd score and Quinton de Kock scoring his second fifty of the season. However, both his fifties have gone in vain so far. Suryakumar Yadav has been an extremely consistent performer in the last couple of seasons and even though his last three scores in IPL 2019 read only 7, 21, 16, he makes my fantasy team.

One major change you can expect is Lasith Malinga coming in for Alzarri Joseph, who has been ruled out of the tournament with an injury. As for Jason Behrendorff, he had a bad game against Rajasthan and the management can consider ruling him out for Mitchell McClenaghan. Rahul Chahar could be your x-factor bowler while Krunal Pandya is a must-pick. He picked 3 wickets in the last game and also has a brilliant record against RCB.

Bangalore

Bangalore Bangalore Bangalore. You make us happy with one win. We hope there’s more to come. What’s the secret to success? A better bowling attack for sure. Yuzvendra Chahal has been their only regular wicket-taking bowler with 11 wickets in the tournament, while the next best is far away – Mohammad Siraj with 6 wickets. Siraj has gone at 9+ runs per over in IPL 2019 and he certainly won’t be making my fantasy team in this entire season.

One major surprise for RCB is that they played 3 overseas players in the last game. However, they have the option of including Dale Steyn in their team, maybe in place of Siraj. If you pick Virat Kohli, ensure you pick AB de Villiers as they almost always play well only with each other in partnership, or else skip both. Don’t forget to include Navdeep Saini who has been one of RCB’s most impressive bowlers this series, except for the fact that he hasn’t been lucky enough to get more than 4 wickets so far.
