In recent months, we’ve seen a mini resurgence for Bermuda, a team which first made an appearance in a major ICC event in the 2007 World Cup. On the other hand, we have another Asian country emerging in the cricketing scene in Singapore, which has been playing and moreover, hosting a lot of cricket in the last few months.
These two are part of the ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier in UAE and we have 4 games scheduled today. Earlier today, we have Canada playing Jersey in Abu Dhabi and now in Match 12, we have Bermuda and Singapore playing each other in Dubai. Singapore won their opening game while Bermuda lost theirs. Numbers
- Head to head in T20Is, these two play each other for the first time.
- Bermuda – 30th in the ICC T20 Rankings.
- Singapore – 21st in the ICC T20 Rankings.
- Dion Stovell – 108 runs, 14 wickets in last 10 games for Bermuda.
- Tim David – lowest score of 39 runs in 7 games prior to arrival in UAE.
Bermuda
The team is being led by Dion Stovell and he’s a worthy fantasy pick because he contributes with both bat and ball. In three games here in UAE since arrival, he’s gone wicketless but there’s better potential in this player. It was Delray Rawlins who top scored with 25 in their collapse of 89 in the last game. Rawlins has experience playing for Sussex and the left armer bowls as well, so he’s a must-have.
Another experienced player in the squad is Kamau Leverock who bagged a golden duck in the last game which means there won’t be too many players choosing him today. Leverock has experience in England too and had 2 wickets in each of the 2 warm-up games in UAE. Okera Bascome scored 49 against Nigeria in the warm-up and he can be your wicket-keepers. With the ball, Malachi Jones is going to be your best bet.
Singapore
The side is being captained by medium pacer Amjad Mahboob who has 12 wickets in his last 10 games for Singapore including 2/36 in the opening game against Scotland. Another surprise package with the ball was 40-year old Selladore Vijayakumar who bagged 3/16 in that opening game and he could be another good fantasy pick, considering he has 11 wickets in 7 T20Is including a best of 4/25 vs Nepal.
Another player who has been in fantastic form and averaged 55+ in T20Is before the last game was Tim David who migrated from Australia and should definitely be in your PlayerzPot (Use Code “READ1234”) fantasy team. He has scores of 11, 0, 1 since arrival in UAE and will be hoping for a better outing. Another player who could bring in the fantasy points is Janak Prakash who bowled and scored 20(11) in the last game.
