Izatullah Dawlatzai happens to be one of the most experienced players in the Germany set-up, having also played for Afghanistan in the past. He has been very economical in the recent past but hasn’t been among the wickets. Regardless, he bowled brilliantly in the 1st T20 to pick up 2/17 in 4 overs. With the bat, pick captain Rishi Pillai and this time, I’ll drop Daniel Weston who has 2 ducks in his last 3 international innings.
Italy
Just like Germany, the Italian wicket-keeper also comes at the top of the order, Manpreet Singh. He scored only 4 but I’ll take a gamble on him rather than Weston, who has been failing in the last few games. Gayashan Munasinghe is the captain of Italy and he took 13 wickets at the 2013 ICC World T20 Qualifiers in UAE. In the 1st T20, he picked 1/14 in 3 overs and I’ll select him in my team once again.
Your second bowler pick will have to be made between Michael Ross and Bangladeshi-origin Rakibul Hasan. There was a lot of the 21-year old Ross and he hasn’t gone wicketless in quite a while now. He picked up 4/15 and destroyed Germany in the 1st T20, while Rakibul picked 1/6 in his 2 overs. Another option would be picking both and dropping Munasinghe from your Howzat (sign-up with code “READ1234”) fantasy team. Nicholas Maiolo is a must pick as he bats at #3 and also picked 2 wickets in the last game, opening the bowling.
