This is something that is becoming very common when we see these lesser known or ‘associate’ nations playing cricket – playing multiple matches on a single day. Again now, Finland has made the trip across to Denmark to play a super-short series of just 2 T20Is, or should we say a day of 2 T20Is, where both games will be played on the same evening at the Svanholm Park in Brondby, Denmark.
The first game will take place at 2:30pm and the second at 6:30pm IST, and this will give us something to cheer about apart from the ICC 2019 World Cup. This team recently played at the ICC T20 World Cup Europe Region last month which saw them slipping 3 ranks in the T20 rankings. A player I picked in all of Denmark’s games was Nicolaj Laegsgaard and since all-rounders are vital to fantasy teams in T20 cricket, I’m going to make him my vice-captain here, having picked 5 wickets and scored 39 runs in the 4 T20Is he played here last month.
The team is being led by Hamid Shah and this is one more player you can include in your fantasy teams. Shah scored 46 runs in 3 games and bowled once and the only reason I’d not want to pick him is because he is a one dimensional player. Zishan Shah is another batsman you could consider selecting, having been a part of the Denmark national team since a while now and being awarded Man of the Match for his last international against Italy a couple of weeks back.
Finland
The Finnish team last played in 2018 and will be in fact making their T20 international debut, playing for the first time since T20 status was allocated to all countries. The team will be led by opening batsman Nathan Collins who had a string of good scores in that tournament last year, including 2 fifties in 5 games within the span of a week. He’s the first name on my fantasy team sheet.
With the ball, Hariharan Dandapani will be key. Even though Finland took a beating of 64 runs in their last T20 against Jersey in September 2018, Dandapani managed to pick up 3/19 and a total of 6 wickets in 5 games that series. Tonmoy Saha is another person you can’t miss in your PlayerzPot (Use Code “READ1234”) fantasy team. Saha picked up 5 wickets in that tournament and also managed 28 with the bat in the middle order.
