After a decent break post the Ashes 2019 defeat, England has finally set out on a tour of New Zealand where they will play 2 Tests and 5 T20Is between 27 October and 3 December 2019. The tour begins with the T20Is and before the series begins, England XI will have the chance to play two warm-up games against New Zealand XI. We’re expecting England’s team to be very close to their strongest team. Both games will take place at Lincoln.
England having won the World Cup recently obviously comes into this game as favourites even though they haven’t brought their strongest squad here. However, New Zealand XI has a decent team which shouldn’t be taken easily. Memories of the 2019 WC final will return when they clash today. New Zealand XI
The side will boast of two explosive openers, led by Colin Munro. In 9 games for Trinbago Knight Riders recently, he scored 96* in the opening game and never got past fifty again. Munro has a habit of doing well at the start of a series, so I’ll pick him today. The next experienced player to pick would be Anton Devcich since he bats and bowls both. Though he has no 50+ scores this year, he can be a match-winner on his day.
Tim Seifert will keep wickets and is in good form but I’ll have to skip him as England has 3 keepers, all brilliant T20 players. Instead, I’ll pick all-rounder Anaru Kitchen who has no great recent stats but is always chipping in with both bat and ball. In the bowling department, we have speedster Lockie Ferguson leading the attack and there’s not reason to drop him today, not going wicketless even once in his last 9 games. X-factor bowler – Anurag Verma.
England XI
Newbies to the international circuit, Tom Banton, Matthew Parkinson and Saqib Mahmood have been given a chance to shine in this T20 series. Banton has been in brilliant T20 form, ending with 549 runs in 13 games for Somerset at the 2019 Vitality T20 Blast, with 4 fifties and 1 century. Matthew Parkinson had 21 wickets in 12 games in that tournament, the second bets in the league; we’re expecting him to get a chance too.
England XI will be without the services of Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer and Jos Buttler in this series. Include Eoin Morgan in your FanFight (Sign-up and get Rs.30 FREE) fantasy team as he leads the side; he had a good T20 season for Middlesex with 3 fifties in 9 games. With experience of playing in T20 leagues across the world, I have to include Joe Denly in my fantasy team, who scored 3 fifties in the last 3 Ashes 2019 tests against Australia.
