ENG vs AUS 2020 – 1st ODI Fantasy Preview

It was an exciting T20I series where England wrapped up the series early before the visitors won the dead rubber and now, we move into the ODI format where England are the world champions. We have a big squad for Australia who have sent in a number of options, so we feel they might take a game or two to figure out the perfect team combination for themselves.

Very unlike England pitches, the first and second highest wicket-taking bowlers in the 3-match T20I series were all spinners, so you should pick your bowlers accordingly. England have dominated Australia in this format in recent months and all games of this series will be played at the same ground in Manchester. England

Leg-spinner Adil Rashid had a fabulous time in the T20Is with 6 wickets in 3 games and he’s all set to continue that dominance in this format, with the added benefit of being useful with the bat if given the chance. With the bat, we have Jason Roy making a comeback after a time out with injury but if you look at his numbers, he last scored a fifty across formats 11 innings ago – at the PSL in Feb 2020!

Instead, let’s pick Jos Buttler who was brilliant in the couple of T20Is he played and this will be his first ODI since the World Cup final last year, so he’ll be looking to stamp his authority on this format of the game as well. Eoin Morgan missed the final T20I but he’s fit now and should be picked in your ENG vs AUS fantasy team, since he has 386 runs in 10 games here. Today is also Morgan’s 34th birthday!

Australia

After his 39* in the final T20I, Mitchell Marsh may have cemented his place in the ODI side but sine he doesn’t bowl that often now, we’ll leave him out and pick other all-rounders, one being Ashton Agar, who picked 5 wickets and had a top score of 23 in the T20 series! Similarly, we’re expecting good things from the explosive Glenn Maxwell who hit a century in one warmup game, though he only got 33 runs in 3 T20 innings.

It was this time last year that Marnus Labuschagne wreaked havoc against England in the Ashes and he should make your Nostragamus (Use “READSCOOPS” for Rs.100 FREE) fantasy team as well, since he has a supreme record in his short career so far. The ODI captain Aaron Finch scored 125 runs in 3 T20s without any fifty, so he’s also in good touch at this point of time.
