The 2019 Duleep Trophy has 3 matches scheduled before 2 of the 3 teams face off in the final. After a washed out game with barely a day’s play in the 1st Test, we had a longer 2nd Test which also ended in a draw. India Red is sitting pretty at the top of the points table with 2 points from their draw in their only game and they now play India Green, a team that only got 1 point from their washed out game.
Faiz Fazal’s team was the least strongest squad coming into this tournament and if they have to qualify to the final, they will need a strong finish here. As for India Red, they will be captained by the very consistent Priyank Panchal. Keep reading for our complete MyFab11 (sign-up with code “READAD46“) fantasy preview of the IND-G vs IND-R game…

Stats
- Karun Nair – 99 and 166* in the last game against India Blue.
- Ankit Kalsi – 106 and 64 in the last game against India Blue.
- Avesh Khan – 4/58 in last game against India Blue.
India Green
It’s going to be tough to pick players on current test match form from India Green as they didn’t get a bat in the first game against India Blue. They bowled and reduced their opponents to 112/6 early on so we know their bowling attack is strong. Ishan Porel had 3/26 when that game came to a halt. Tanveer ul Haq is another player to watch out for – a Rajasthani mechanic to fast bowler at the highest level. He had 2 wickets in the last game.
I’ll skip the captain Faiz Fazal as he hasn’t been in great touch. His last fifty came in January this year. Instead, pick someone like Akshath Reddy who has 4 fifties and a massive 161* for Hyderabad in the same time period. Siddhesh Lad is another highly talented Mumbai batsman who made his debut in IPL 2019 and also had a couple of fifties against Sri Lanka A in May this year, so he’s in good form.
India Red
It was a handsome performance by the India Red batsmen with Karun Nair and Ankit Kalsi scoring big with a fifty and century each across both innings. Nair has huge Team India experience and a triple century also against England, so he will be in at least 90% fantasy teams. I’m going to gamble and drop him for Priyank Panchal, who failed with scores of 16 and 9 in the last game but he’s known for his outstanding consistency and you can read all about that here.
With the ball, Avesh Khan has had a troubled last few months after coming back from injury with not too many wickets. However, he is highly rated and his 4-fer in the last game prompts me to pick him in my MyFab11(sign-up with code “READAD46“) fantasy team. Axar Patel also has a lot of Team India experience and I’ll pick him even though he scored 0 and 9 and also went wicketless in the last game.
