There may not be too much of highest level cricket going on at the moment but looking towards the future, we have 6 teams fighting it out in Oman to help their chances to qualify to the 2023 Cricket World Cup. The 2019 CWC Challenge League has Match 4 now scheduled between Hong Kong and Jersey, both of whom were also part of the recent T20 World Cup Qualifier in UAE.
Unfortunately, both were among those who were eliminated and will not be making the journey to Australia for the T20 WC. Group A of this tournament took place in September this year and now, we have Group A matches scheduled. Today, Hong Kong are clear favourites because they’ve always had more exposure. There, he scored a match-winning 116* and also picked 2 wickets and he will be high in popularity in this game, so I’ll just pick him as a normal player. Aizaz Khan could be your captain pick today who has been having a tough time with bat and ball, but is a match-winner.
Khan went wicketless in the last game and batted way down the order at #7, but we’ve seen in the past what he’s capable of. Waqas Barqat is another must pick fantasy player because he has 12 wickets in his last 10 games and even scored 66 with the bat in the last game. For your bowling specialist, choose Nasrulla Rana even though he was wicketless against Bermuda, as he’s their main strike bowler at the moment.
Jersey
Not many people had their eyes on the 18-year old Julius Sumerauer but now, almost everyone will want them in their Howzat (sign-up with code “READ1234”) fantasy teams. He has 8 wickets in his last 3 games and 18 in his last 10 games, while also playing with Somerset 2nd XI earlier this year. Pick captain Charles Perchard even though he has only 1 wicket in his last 3 games, because he had 10 in 5 bowling innings prior to that.
Another pick with the ball could be Elliot Miles as the 22-year old has been among the wickets recently, including 1 in the last game against Uganda and a 3-fer in a game prior to that against Oman in UAE. Middle-order batsman and leg-spinner Dominic Blampied is one of my favourite Jersey players and he’s a must have, picking 1/35 and scoring 24 against Uganda. Nick Greenwood could also be an all-rounder pick.
