CWC Challenge 2019 – BER vs UGA Fantasy Preview

Bermuda put up a good total of 291/8 in their opening game in the 2019 CWC Challenge (Group B) and they were unfortunate to lose a tight game against Hong Kong with just 4 balls to spare. They now have another chance to open their account in this campaign, playing in Match 6 of the tournament against African opponents, Uganda.

As for Uganda, they had a brilliant start to their tournament, beating Jersey by 25 runs to register a win in their opening game. They, they won a well-fought game against African neighbours Kenya, chasing down 249 in their second game and winning the final over. They will now look to get back to winning ways. Numbers

  • In their last 4 games head to head, Uganda leads 4-1.
  • Terryn Fray – 3 double-digit scores in his last 10 games.
  • Okera Bascome – 8 single-digit scores in his last 10 games.
  • Justin Pitcher – 9 wickets in only 4 List A games for Bermuda.
  • Shahzad Ukani so far in this tournament – 60 and 47.

Bermuda

With Kamau Leverock and Tre Manders fresh off same scores of 63 in the opening game, both of these can be picked in your fantasy eleven today. Manders didn’t have many big scores prior to this game but Leverock has had three successive scores of 30+ including 9 wickets in his last 5 matches for Bermuda, so the latter can even be your fantasy captain or vice-captain today.

The side is being captained by opening batsman Terryn Fray who can be skipped as it’s been a long while since he got a decent score for Bermuda. There are many all-rounders in this Bermuda line-up and one of them you can select is Dion Stovell who has gone wicketless in his last 2 games but he has 2 fifties in only 7 List A games. Delray Rawlins is also a contender for fantasy captain, with experience playing at Sussex as well recently.

Uganda

Wicket-keeper batsman Arnold Otwani has scores of only 12 and 4 in this tournament so far, but he’s usually more consistent than this, having back-to-back fifties against USA and Denmark late last year. Roger Mukasa also hasn’t been great in this tournament with scores of just 13 and 16 so far, but the good part is that he’s one of their best batsmen and it won’t take long before he’s among among the runs; I’ll pick both in my Howzat (sign-up with code “READ1234”) fantasy team.

Shahzad Ukani will be over-picked after two classy innings, so I’ll drop him today. Another good pick could be all-rounder Dinesh Nakrani who can even be your vice-captain today. He has 9 wickets in his last 10 games, including 2 fifties, one of which came in the opening game against Jersey and then he followed it up with 32 against Kenya. X-factor all-rounder pick – Riazat Ali Shah.
