Hate to sound so harsh but it’s like a battle of the losers here in the Group B tournament of the 2019 CWC Challenge which is currently being hosted in Oman. In Match 9, Bermuda will be taking on African nation Kenya, and both of them have 2 losses in 2 games so far in the tournament. This game will kick off at the same time as the Italy vs Hong Kong game.
Kenya has been around as a cricketing nations since years, having also made the semi-final of a CWC tournament once. Now, they find ways to mess up winning games much like they did in the last one too, against Uganda, the latter stitching up lower order partnership to complete a 3-wicket win. Keep reading for our PlayerzPot (Use Code “READ1234”) fantasy preview of the BER vs KEN game…

Numbers
- In 7 games this tournament so far, 5 have been won batting second.
- Tre Manders and Kamau Leverock – 2 fifties each so far this series.
- Onias Bascome – only 2 wickets in last 10 games for Bermuda.
- Shem Ngoche – wicketless in 2 games so far this tournament.
Bermuda
While the batting has been good, picking wickets has been an issue for Bermuda so far. However, if I have to pick a bowler, it would be Onias Bascome because he’s proved he can hold his own with the bat when needed too, scoring 43* and 14* so far this tournament. The rest of the bowling can come from all-rounders in the side like Delray Rawlins and Kamau Leverock, both of whom have managed only 1 wicket each so far.
Leverock is a must pick because he has 2 consecutive fifties, taking his tournament tally to 113 in 2 games. As for Rawlins, he only has 64 runs in 2 games, but one of them was a fifty (53) which means he can also be a captain pick, as most will have Leverock as their fantasy captain. After a good outing in the first game, Dion Stovell didn’t place the next one, replaced by bowler Zeko Burgess, who picked 1 wicket.
Kenya
Although he’s been batting at a snail’s pace with a strike rate of 55, Irfan Karim has scores of 71 and 37 so far in this tournament and I’ll pick him in my PlayerzPot (Use Code “READ1234”) fantasy team, playing for Kenya since the U-15 stage and also having scored 2 fifties in the recent T20 Qualifier in UAE. Another important pick would be Dhiren Gondaria who scored 53 in the last game after 3 consecutive single-digit failures.
Captain Shem Ngoche hasn’t had the best results so far with the ball, but I’ll pick him in my fantasy team because he didn’t go wicketless in his last 10 games prior to that. Also, he scored 25 in the first game and proved he’s handy with the bat too. Collins Obuya is 38 years old and their most experienced all-rounder, who bagged 3/38 in the first game and performed with the bat in the second game, scoring 36.
