The ICC 2019 World Cup began around a week back and today, we’re going to talk about Match 9 of this prestigious global tournament. Bangladesh vs New Zealand and both these teams kicked off their respective campaigns on a winning note. Bangladesh delivered a shock defeat to South Africa while New Zealand decimated Sri Lanka with a 10-wicket win. By the end of today though, one team would’ve had their first loss.
Can Bangladesh prove themselves to be one-time wonders? While they lost to New Zealand down under 3-0 earlier this year, they ave beat them 10 times in 34 ODIs so it won’t be a complete shock if they end victorious again today. However, New Zealand is a team that has always been consistent at World Cups. Keep reading our complete Funtasy11 (sign-up with code “6CD431“) fantasy preview of the BAN vs NZ game…

- Tamim Iqbal has 239 runs in 3 previous ODIs here.

Bangladesh
This is the same ground where Bangladesh beat South Africa after scoring 330/6. However, South Africa’s fielding and bowling was poor so we can’t expect a similar total if Bangladesh bat first again. Tamim Iqbal has a great record here and a better one against New Zealand, so I’m picking him even though he failed in the last game. Your wicket-keeper pick of Mushfiqur Rahim can also come from Bangladesh considering NZ is batting Latham down the order.
I’m picking all of the experienced Bangla players and that’s why Shakib al Hasan also makes my team, who had a recent stint at IPL 2019 and also won Man of the Match in the first game. Please don’t miss Mahmudullah in your team as this guy has a crush on World Cups. He smashed 46(33)* in the South Africa game after plundering two centuries in WC 2015. Mehidy Hasan has brilliant all-round abilities and this guy could be your x-factor player.
New Zealand
Like Bangladesh, New Zealand is also expected to play an unchanged team. Tim Southee’s time on the bench is set to increase as both of Lockie Ferguson and Matt Henry picked 3 wickets each against Sri Lanka. Henry is one player I have my eyes on in this World Cup 2019 and he makes my team again while Trent Boult is a natural feature in everyone’s team. He could even be bumped to a captain’s role today. He picked 1/44 in the last game but had 4-wicket hauls in both the warm-ups.
With the bat, Martin Guptill is a must have in your Funtasy11 (sign-up with code “6CD431“) fantasy team. He was also the highest scorer in CWC 2015 so you know he likes the big stage. Since WC 2015, Ross Taylor has an ODI average of 68+ which is second to only Virat Kohli but he bats too low down and I’d rather have Kane Williamson in my team, who is a one-drop player and one who can anchor this NZ innings. James Neesham is your x-factor in this team.
