It’s Match 36 of the ICC 2019 World Cup and this will be the first of today’s double header games. Afghanistan is yet to win a single game in the tournament, losing all 7 games and making the bottom spot their own. They now play Pakistan at Headingley, with the latter fresh off a confidence-boosting victory against New Zealand. Pakistan has 3 wins in 7 games and their hopes are still alive in CWC 2019.
Pakistan will be hoping for positive results including that of India defeating England on Sunday plus winning their own last 2 games. However, let’s not forget that Afghanistan’s only success in England so far came when they beat Pakistan by 3 wickets in a warm-up game prior to CWC 2019. Afghanistan
There’s something clearly wrong in the Afghanistan camp. After a few weird moves already, they have now sent a perfectly fit Aftab Alam home under ‘exceptional circumstances’ while pulling in Sayed Shirzad in his place, although it’s uncertain whether he will play. Playing his first game of CWC 2019 in the last match, seasoned all-rounder Samiullah Shinwari proved himself immediately, scoring 49* while all else failed. Pick him in your team.
I’m going to go in for their all-rounders and the first person expect to fire is Gulbadin Naib who seems to have come across as a better player while batting as an opener, plus wickets. 174 runs and 9 wickets so far means he is definitely on my team sheet and is even worth considering as a captain/vice-captain pick. The same goes for Mohammad Nabi, who has 7 wickets and 90 runs this series. I’ll be skipping the very popular Rashid Khan for this game.
Pakistan
I’ve been continually asking why Shaheen Afridi hasn’t been a part of the Pakistan bowling attack in CWC 2019 and right enough, he bagged 3 wickets against New Zealand on is return to the squad. Overall in this tournament, he has 6 wickets in 3 games and also has 4/82 at this ground in his only previous ODI here, so he should definitely make your fantasy team. I’ll pick him alongside Mohammad Amir who has 16 runs in 6 games so far this tournament.
We’re not expecting too many Pakistani wickets to fall so I’ll pick a 7-4 fantasy team in their favour. All through this tournament, I’ve been confused between Imam ul Haq and Fakhar Zaman but here, I’ll pick both even though both failed in the previous game. Also, due to his marvellous consistency and 33 runs in 6 game sin CWC 2019, don’t forget to worth include Babar Azam in all your Nostragamus (sign-up with “READSCOOPS” to get Rs.100 FREE) fantasy picks.
