It’s Match 35 of the ICC 2019 World Cup and the semi-finalists have almost been set. As for this game, it doesn’t really matter as both of them haven’t really got any chances left, with maybe Sri Lanka having a narrow outside chance, especially after their win against England. Overall, Sri Lanka have managed 2 wins in their 6 games but that’s mostly because 2 of their games wee washed out due to rain. They haven’t actually been too bad.
Who has been bad though is their opposing team in this game, South Africa. They have got only 1 win in 7 games in CWC 2019 and that solitary win came against Afghanistan which has left the Proteas second from bottom on the points table. Their confidence is shattered and everything they do seems to be the wrong foot forward, which includes dropped catches, something rarely associated with SA. Sri Lanka is our favourites for the day and you can keep reading for our complete Nostragamus (sign-up with “READSCOOPS” to get Rs.100 FREE) fantasy tips and predictions of the SL vs SA match…

Sri Lanka
Let’s start with the bowlers and come the big game, come the big man. You have to have Lasith Malinga in all fantasy games in World Cups, as he tends to step up when required, like how he did in the IPL 2019 final. He has 8 wickets in 4 games in CWC 2019 so far and no one will forget his 4 balls, 4 wickets vs South Africa in the 2007 World Cup. Another player who bowls his heart out is Nuwan Pradeep who has 4 wickets in his 3 games. Stats aren’t on his side but he is the most valuable fantasy player as per me.
Everything depends on the start the Sri Lankan batsmen can give. Look at Dimuth Karunaratne and Kusal Perera and these two south paws have hit 2 fifties in 4 games each, with 180 and 161 runs respectively. I’d pick both in my fantasy team as the SA opening bowlers haven’t been the best so far, so chances of a quick start are high. In the middle order, pick Angelo Mathews, who ended his run drought with 85* against a tough English bowling attack.
South Africa
If your fantasy league provider allows you the option of picking two wicket-keepers, then add Quinton de Kock to your team as well, who has 1,104 career runs in 23 ODIs against Sri Lanka, including 3 centuries and 7 fifties. However, he hasn’t been at his best in CWC 2019 with 2 fifties in 7 innings at an average below 40, so if you have to choose one, go for Perera. Captain Faf du Plessis also has a good record vs SL – 1,000+ runs in 25 ODIs.
The undoubted most consistent batsman for SA has been Rassie van der Dussen. Pick him in your team, no matter what. He has managed to score runs regardless of the conditions and has 2 fifties at an average of 54 in this World Cup. With the ball, Imran Tahir has 10 wickets while Chris Morris has 9. Pick both especially since Morris offers an option with the bat. Andile Phehlukwayo could be a handy contributor and is worth including in your Nostragamus (sign-up with “READSCOOPS” to get Rs.100 FREE) fantasy picks.
