Bangladesh has been a star performer so far at the ICC 2019 World Cup, giving 100% each time they have played so far. It’s sad however that the results only show for 2 wins in their 6 games thus far. They have played inspiring cricket against England and Australia, in chases of 380+ on both occasions, while also completing a record chase against West Indies. Now, they play Afghanistan in Match 31 of CWC 2019.
Afghanistan were outplayed in all of their previous matches except the last one against India where they lost narrowly by 11 runs in the last over. They can take confidence from that game and try and get on the board today, with 0 wins in 6 games thus far. They have only pride to play for. Bangladesh
Former captain Shakib al Hasan has been so good for Bangladesh at the number 3 position that it becomes impossible to ignore him in fantasy leagues. If playing multiple teams, you can take a gamble in one team by dropping him for someone with more value but if playing one on one, you must select him as captain. Wickets are an add-on on these pitches which aren’t as spin friendly.
With a couple of twenties and a forty in CWC 2019 so far, Soumya Sarkar has been getting the starts but not being able to convert. With Tamim Iqbal’s first fifty of the tournament coming in the last game against Australia, he may be picked by a high percentage of fantasy teams but I’ll take the risk and go for Sarkar instead. Another great option with the bat and as your wicket-keeper is Mushfiqur Rahim, Bangladesh’s most reliable player. He has 244 runs in the tournament including a century against Australia.
Afghanistan
First name on the team sheet has to be Mohammad Nabi. We spoke abut how Nabi hadn’t been able to make an impact after his 3-wicket over against Sri Lanka. However, 2/33 and a fifty against India means he could be a good option to be picked as captain or vice-captain. Afghanistan don’t need to force any changes but with a rotation being noticed in the bowlers, we may see Aftab Alam being replaced by either Hamid Hassan or Dawlat Zadran.
Rashid Khan has really been going the distance in this 2019 World Cup. Teams have been picking him and taking him to the cleaners, so I’ll take the risk of dropping him for Mujeeb Rahman. The mystery spinner had a horrible IPL 2019 and even since then, has picked up only 2 wickets in 7 games for Afghanistan. However, he will draw confidence from his 1/26 against India including the lovely delivery that clean bowled Rohit Sharma, so make sure he’s in your Rotobash (sign-up to get Rs.100 FREE) fantasy team.
