Okay, honestly speaking, I really fancy Pakistan’s chances in the ICC 2019 World Cup. However, they just don’t seem to know how to beat Australia. Earlier this year, Australia beat them 5-0 in the ODI series in UAE, while also winning the home series 3-0 before that. Somehow, they find a way to collapse in pressure situations against the mighty Aussies. They face the Aussie test again, this time in Match 17 of CWC 2019.
Pakistan have 1 win in 3 games so far, having lost to Windies, beaten hosts England and then having the game against Sri Lanka being washed out. On the other hand, Australia began with two victories but their streak was put to an end when they lost to India in their last game. Australia begin as favourites in this encounter and you can keep reading for our complete CricMoney (sign-up to get Rs.25 FREE) fantasy preview of the AUS vs PAK match…

Australia
Big blow came in for Australia with Marcus Stoinis being ruled out with a side strain. Mitchell Marsh has been called in as a cover but it’s highly unlikely he plays as it has been a long while since he played for the national team. Australia is likely to go in for his brother Shaun Marsh, but that means playing only 4 specialist bowlers. Glenn Maxwell is likely to bowl a complete quota of 10 overs, so pick him in your team for sure.
My bowler picks for Australia are going to be similar throughout this tournament. Pat Cummins is far more accurate and reliable than Starc, and he has a wicket (or more) in each of his last 11 international games, with a total tally of 29 wickets in that time. Adam Zampa is the x-factor bowler and he also has 11 wickets in 7 ODIs against Pakistan to go with 4 wickets in 3 games at CWC 2019 so far. With the bat, David Warner seems to have continued his form from IPL 2019 so you can pick him too.
Pakistan
Middle-order batsman Haris Sohail has 2 centuries in 6 ODIs against Australia so I’d definitely want to see Pakistan bring him back into the team, for either Shoaib Malik or Asif Ali, both of whom have been ineffective so far, to say the least. Pakistan is also playing just 4 specialist bowlers which means sharing of 10 overs between Mohammad Hafeez and Sohail/Malik, so Hafeez makes my team too, considering his good form with the bat as well.
With the ball, Mohammad Amir has 5 wickets in 2 games while Wahab Riaz has 3 wickets in 2 games, so I’ll want both in my CricMoney (sign-up to get Rs.25 FREE) fantasy team. Australia seemed to struggle against short-pitched deliveries from Windies, so Riaz may be licking his lips with this opportunity. Considering Hasan Ali has no wickets in CWC 2019 so far, Shaheen Afridi could very well get a go against Australia.
