It hasn’t been a great season for both these teams in question here. We have a Sunday double header scheduled today and the home team of the second game will be Perth Scorchers as we move to this massive stadium in Perth. Scorchers have 2 wins in 5 games so far in the 2019/20 Big Bash League and they’re ranked 6th out of 8 teams on the BBL points table at the moment.
They’re up against Hobart Hurricanes who have a similar campaign so far, also with 2 wins in 5 games but a slightly lower net run rate, currently placed 7th on the points table, also coming into this encounter with 2 consecutive losses in the tournament. Stats
- Head to head in last 5 games, Hurricanes leads 3-2.
- Chris Jordan – 8 wickets in 5 games so far in BBL 2019/20.
- George Bailey – only 47 runs in 5 games in BBL 2019/20 so far.
- Riley Meredith – 9 wickets in 5 games so far this season.
Perth Scorchers
After their last victory, Scorchers should field an unchanged team which means Joel Paris and Tim David will be left out again. Captain Mitchell Marsh is their highest run scorer right now with 145 runs and a best of 56* and his knock in the last game proved his abilities yet again. Overseas player Liam Livingstone at the top hasn’t been too good with 112 runs in 5 games but he’s extremely capable and bowls too, so he makes my fantasy side.
With the ball, we have Chris Jordan the other overseas player who is also a T20 specialist. He is their top wicket taker while leg-spinner Fawad Ahmed is close behind with 7 scalps in 5 games, and he’s always a contender to pick up a wicket or two in BBL matches. With only 4 wickets in 5 games, Jhye Richardson may not make too many fantasy sides, but he’s in mine for sure as he’s one of the best pacers in Australia right now.
Hobart Hurricanes
Top scorer in the last 2 editions of the Big Bash League, D’Arcy Short hasn’t had the best season so far with 145 runs in 5 games. I’ll pick him since he’s a frequent bowler now too, which he wasn’t earlier. With the ball, James Faulkner is out with a calf injury and Tom Rogers is expected to make the cut in his place, while Afghanistan’s Qais Ahmed would be my strike bowler, who has 7 wickets in 5 games so far.
David Miller is one of the most deadly T20 batsmen from around the world and I’ll pick him in my Funtasy11 (sign-up with code “6CD431“) fantasy team even though he’s had a pathetic season with a best of 25* in 5 games. Ben McDermott has 111 runs so far and he’s also worthy of being in your fantasy team, a batsman with a neat and clean technique and a knack of scoring runs in T20 cricket.
