Neighbours Bangladesh made the trip down to our country recently and they’ve always produced good contests with us in the last year or two. However, not many would’ve expected to turn up and win their first game on the tour itself. They’re playing India for 3 T20Is and 2 Tests and they’ve taken early lead, now having the rare opportunity of winning a limited over series against India, that too in their own backyard.
After that loss in Delhi, India doesn’t seem to be too perturbed and they believe they can still come back to win the series 2-0. Having picked only 3 wickets in the last game, India needs their wicket-takers to stand up and the main one has to be leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal. Out of the Indian teams since a few weeks, Chahal returned with 1/24 in the last game and we expect him to be among the wickets again. Washington Sundar bowled with the new ball and ended with 0/25 in 4 overs but he is in my team too, because he can bat and scored 14(5)* in the 1st T20.
With the bat, Rohit Sharma doesn’t have a great record at this ground and even bagged a lower score of 9 in the 1st T20. I’m going to skip him and pick Shikhar Dhawan instead, who is back after a while and looked hungry in his 41 in the last game. He has IPL experience batting with Shreyas Iyer, so I’ll pick the latter too, who looked good before getting dismissed for 22 in just 13 balls. Krunal Pandya is a good all-rounder pick who can be a game changer!
Bangladesh
With their most senior player Shakib al Hasan out, Mushfiqur Rahim is the backbone of this batting attack and I’ll pick him again considering he has always done well against India. Newly appointed captain Mahmudullah was there with Rahim when they got over the line in the last game and he’s a good pick too. He bowls often as well, and will need to call himself on earlier, compared to using himself as the 8th bowler in the 1st T20.
With the ball, Mustafizur Rahman has played plenty of cricket in India, being a part of the IPL over the years. He went wicketless in the last game but he was bowled only 2 overs. Another good bowling option will be Afif Hossain who has been rising over the years in the domestic circuit. He had magical figures of 1/11 in 3 overs in the 1st T20 and he can be handy with the bat too, so pick him in your Funtasy11 (sign-up with code “6CD431“) fantasy team.
