While everyone is going gaga over Travis Head’s 152 in the last game, consistency is the name of the game in Test cricket and that’s why we’d rather have someone like Marnus Labuschagne in our AUS vs ENG fantasy team who looked the best among Aussie batsmen in his innings of 74. Steve Smith has looked out of sorts for a few months now so we’ll drop him and pick David Warner who struggled but got to 90-odd runs in that game, and he has a lot to prove as well.

With the ball, Jhye Richardson returns to the side for his 3rd career Test match, picked in place of Josh Hazlewood, who is out with a side strain. He’s much like Mitchell Starc who can give you pace and swing early on but we don’t know how effective they will be post the first couple of days. I’d rather pick Pat Cummins among the pacers and Nathan Lyon who didn’t have a great last 2 Tests, has a great record here, so can be picked too.

With scores of 25 and 27 in the 1st Test, Haseeb Hameed was non-threatening but he was the only one to negotiate the movement early on and get a start, only to throw it away. We’re picking him in our AUS vs ENG Dream11 team for the 2nd Test as he’ll hope to convert to a bigger score. Ollie Pope is another batsmen from the younger lot who got a start in the 1st innings and if there’s runs from the top and pressure off him, he could get a few runs for sure.
