We had a couple of double headers in the 2019 Americas Region T20 Final and then all four teams got a day’s break. We’re back now with Match 5 – Bermuda vs Cayman Islands. The hosts Bermuda shocked USA in the opening game and then had a washed out game against Canada, which they were about to lose for sure, if not for the rain interruption.
As for Cayman Islands, this was the least known team coming into this tournament and it’s no real surprise that they’ve lost both their games so far and it won’t be a surprise if they lose this third one as well. For the wicket-keeper pick, it’s fairly simple as Okera Bascome opens the innings and gets more exposure. He has been consistent and got starts in both games but just needs to kick on further now. Along with him in the middle order is the very talented Delray Rawlins, who has to be in your team despite his score of just 6 in the last game. Remember, he smashed 63 vs USA.
With 22 wickets in 14 international games, the 34-year old George O’Brien brings a lot of experience to the fore and his spell of 2/14 vs USA was spectacular. I’ll be picking him even though he was wicketless against Canada. In the all-rounders section, don’t forget to pick Kamau Leverock who has only 11 runs and 1 wicket so far in 2 games, but made massive contributions for Notts 2nd XI earlier this year.
Cayman Islands
Cayman Islands has an upcoming star in 18-year old Luke Harrington-Myers who has been bringing in consistent performances in the U-19 level. However, he debuted for Cayman yesterday and picked 2/13 while also scoring 17*, so there’s a whole lot of talent here. He’s an all-rounder so you can’t leave him out of your PlayerzPot (Use Code “READ1234”) fantasy team today.
Another all-rounder who has impressed is Paul Manning who picked 2/3 in his first game and then 0/25 in his second but his overall series economy rate is still less than 6. He bats in the middle order and has more potential than his scores this series suggest so far. Gregory Strydom scored 49 in the first game before a duck in the second and he’s a good pick too.
