There was so much excitement over the start of the ACC Women’s Emerging Teams Cup in Sri Lanka, where 4 Indian teams would participate in a round robin stage that would eventually see the top 2 playing in the final. We’re down to just the final day and prior to those, all 4 scheduled games have been washed out as it’s been raining cats and dogs in Sri Lanka. Hopefully, we get to see some action today.
In Match 5 of the tournament, we have India Women taking on Pakistan Women which promises to produce another exciting Indo-Pak contest. A victory for any of these teams will mean a direct finals spot so this will be a virtual semi-final if play actually happens. India Women Emerging Team
India Women is being led by Devika Vaidya; she hasn’t had a lot of cricketing exposure in the last year. She comes into this tournament with only 1 wicket in her last 6 matches which includes those for IND Women, at Women’s IPL and also for BPXI Women. Her last big score was that of 104 which came for India A Women last year in April. Keeping wickets is Nuzhat Parween, but she has never had big scores with the bat.
The assigned vice-captain of the team is Sabbhineni Meghana, who you should probably skip because it has been months since her last decent outing with the bat. She hasn’t even got into double digits in her last 10 games. With the ball, Tanusree Sarkar picked 4 scalps in her last 2 games for India A last year; considering she’s in the middle order with the bat, here’s a valuable all-rounder pick for your fantasy side.
Pakistan Women Emerging Team
Rameen Shamim will lead the side and the 23-year old hasn’t been among the wickets recently. I’ll pick her because I know she’ll be a part of the team; in her last 4 games, she has only 1 wicket. A very experienced player with plenty of senior team experience is batter Javeria Rauf who hasn’t been scoring runs either this year, but had a good 2018. You can add both to your MyFab11 (sign-up with code “READAD46“) fantasy team.
On the bowling front, Fatima Sana played 3 T20Is for Pakistan Women recently against SA Women. While she got no wickets in 2 games, the second game saw her picking 3/27; I’ll add her in my fantasy side for sure, although she’s only 17 years old. Another bowling pick is Nashra Sandhu who has 50 internationals for PAK Women under her belt. She hasn’t done well in her last 5 games, but got 10 wickets in 5 international games prior to that.
