If you’re a cricket fan who loves following some of the domestic T20 leagues, you would’ve witnessed one of the best batting efforts of all time today. We’re talking about a magnificent batting effort by South Delhi Superstarz in the ongoing Delhi Premier League T20 which was scheduled between 17 Aug – 8 Sep 2024.
Today was a weekend double-header and in DPL 2024 Match 23, we had South Delhi taking on North Delhi Strikers in Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium. Batting first, SDS decided to launch an all-out attack on North Delhi, bringing up yet another 200+ score in the tournament’s history, now owning four of the top five scores in the competition.
DPL 2024 – Priyansh Arya, Ayush Badoni score centuries
Opener Priyansh Arya has been magnificent in this year’s DPL T20 tournament with four fifties and two centuries, including smashing 120(50) in today’s DPL 2024 game. In the 12th over of the innings, he smacked a record six sixes in an over, joining the elite list of the likes of Herschelle Gibbs, Yuvraj Singh, Ravi Shastri, and others.

Not only did he score a century but his batting partner Ayush Badoni also smashed a record-breaking 165(55) including a whopping 19 sixes in his innings. Badoni plays for Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL and now, all of the franchises will also have their eyes on the 23-year Priyansh Arya in the IPL 2025 mega auction.

The biggest partnership was that of the 2nd wicket and Arya and Badoni together put on 286 runs, which is the highest partnership for any wicket in T20 cricket across the world. The duo was hitting sixes for fun and ended up having a great day out in the sun. A total of 31 sixes were hit in that innings by South Delhi!

South Delhi ended with 308/5 which is the highest T20 score in India but also the second highest T20 total across competition around the world. Nepal scored 314 against Mongolia in Sep 2023, where Dipendra Singh Airee also hit 6 sixes in a single over.

Badoni’s 165 became the third highest score by an individual in T20 cricket, second to Chris Gayle’s 175* for RCB in 2013, and Aaron Finch’s 172 for Australia against Zimbabwe in 2018. Incidentally, Arya and Badoni are also the highest scorers of the DPL 2024 season so far, with Arya getting 562 runs in just 8 matches so far.
