It’s all heating up even though we’re months away from IPL 2022. There are just about 4 days left until all teams can submit their retention list, post which the IPL 2022 auction will take place. While there have been whispers, rumours and reports, Delhi Capitals has come out and made their list pretty clear, naming all four players they will keep with them for IPL 2022.
Without any doubt, the captain and Team India wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant has kept a spot in the side, and won’t need to go under the hammer for the mega IPL 2022 auction. Pant took over from Shreyas Iyer as captain in IPL 2021 and will stay on as captain, because of which Iyer decided to let himself go from this franchise (obviously because there’s a massive pay gap).

The next person to be retained was Prithvi Shaw and both these names means Delhi is investing in their young players. Both under 24 years old, Shaw is one of the most attacking openers in India right now and is just lacking a little bit more consistency. He did better in IPL 2021 and if the team management does well with him, he’ll be a force to reckon with in years to come.
Indian all-rounder Axar Patel has also been retained and that was a little bit surprising, to be honest. He isn’t a slogger with the bat given the role he should be playing at that position int he batting order, and DC has had better spinners over the years too. Regardless, he has been retained and their overseas pick was also a no-brainer as they chose to stay with South African pacer, Anrich Nortje.
With the retention list deadline being 30th Nov, we expect more teams to submit their lists over the next couple of days. For similar sports news and updates from IPL 2022, stay tuned to ReadScoops.com…
