The 2020 Caribbean Premier League (CPL T20) was initially supposed to begin on 10th July but because of the Covid pandemic, it was postponed and recently, it became the first major T20 league to announce its commencement. Between 18 Aug – 20 Sep 2020, CPL 2020 will be played out in the Caribbean islands and once again, we’re ready for one of the biggest parties in sport to kick off!
Undoubtedly, this is one of the most entertaining event on the cricketing calendar each year and we don’t expect CPL Season 8 to be any different. Once again, 6 teams will be participating after Barbados Tridents took down the CPL 2019 title having beaten Guyana Amazon Warriors in the final. In a total of 7 seasons, Tridents have 2 wins, Jamaica Tallawahs have 2 too, and Trinbago Knight Riders have 3!
The tournament will be played behind closed doors for obvious reasons and like every year, we have a few changes lined up for CPL 2020 as well. The biggest CPL 2020 news for Indian fans is that of 48-year old leg-spinner Pravin Tambe set to become the first Indian to play in the Caribbean T20. Also, young spinner Sandeep Lamichhane from Nepal will also be in action here.
Shoaib Malik and Shadab Khan will miss out on the CPL 2020 season because of their clashing tour of England while the Universe Boss Chris Gayle also opted out of the season owing to personal reasons.
