The International League T20 (ILT20) kicked off in USE in 2023 with the inaugural season but with the kind of names involved in the competition, we always knew it was going to grow into a successful one. In the first edition, we saw some intense finishes which included great performances with both bat and ball.
And while T20 cricket always glorifies batters, we think that it’s the bowlers that win us games on most occasions. Here on this page, we’ve put up a complete ILT20 5-fers list which includes every occasion that a bowler in this competition has picked up a 5-wicket haul or better, since inception of the league till date. The first bowler to pick up an ILT20 5-wicket haul was Afghanistan’s Naveen-ul-Haq who bagged 5/38 playing for the Sharjah Warriors. Many players will follow him on this list but he’ll go down in history as the first to get a 5-fer in this competition. In the first season itself, there were two occasions where a bowler picked up a 5-wicket haul, with South Africa’s David Wiese following Naveen’s performance, picking up 5/20 for the eventual winners, Gulf Giants. Till now, no local UAE player or any other associate nation player has picked up a 5-wicket haul in this UAE T20 league, but it’s not too far away if you ask us.

UAE pitches are not known for the biggest of scores and it’s very common for bowlers to pick up wickets at regular intervals. It basically means that we’ll be seeing quite a few ILT20 5-fers in seasons to come, and we can expect to see a few in ILT20 Season 2 as well, which runs between Jan-Feb 2024.
So far, the5/20 from Wiese is the best figures in ILT20 history but it’s likely that someone will better it in the second season. No one has taken multiple 5-fers in this tournament yet and no one has picked up a 6-fer yet either. No spinner has made this list either, but we’ll update this ILT20 5-wicket hauls list in real-time as and when these stats change over time.
