If you watched the India vs Pakistan encounter of the 2022 ICC T20 World Cup today, you like everyone else would’ve been left shell-shocked. We saw twists and turns like never before, nails being bitten, heart rates fluctuating, pressure switching sides, and much more. Eventually, India completed an iconic victory in what was only the fourth game of the Super12s stage of the competition.
It’s not the first time that we saw an Indo-Pak encounter in a T20 World Cup but it was the first time it went down right to the wire, finishing on the last ball of the 40 overs allotted to the match. Hundreds of tributes came in for Virat Kohli, who ended with 82(53)* and played what was possibly the best innings of his international career till date.

While Kohli has been known as a six hitter, he hit quite a few in this game against Pakistan, taking India across the line and beginning their 2022 T20 WC campaign with a victory. And considering they were 31/4 in this chase, it was great to see a lot of character from Hardik Pandya and Kohli to come back and win from the jaws of defeat.
And because it was the most sensational victory, there was a lot of emotion attached to it, which was evident on the faces of all the Indian cricketers after they won. In fact, we even saw tears in the eyes of Pandya and Kohli, among others. The International Cricket Council (ICC) later took to social media to share a ‘behind the scenes’ video of the celebrations after India beat Pakistan.

One of the most heart warming parts of the celebrations was when India captain Rohit Sharma went on to run out on the pitch, embrace Kohli and carry him up. Millions of fans across the world would’ve been thrilled to see those pictures, as there’s often been discussion of a rift between these two greats of Indian cricket.
Quite a few current and past cricketers also tweeted on their Twitter handles to talk about their experience watching this thrilling game which just kept going back and forth. Quite a few of them questioned some of the umpiring decisions towards the end there, including the 3 byes off the free hit, the above/below waist free hit, and more.
