Ashley Nurse Ruled Out of Remainder of India Tour

West Indian off spinner Ashley Nurse has been ruled out for the remainder of the India tour with a shoulder muscle injury that he picked up in the 4th ODI of the 5-match series against India in Mumbai. He was seen checking his shoulder while bowling in the 4th ODI. His left-hand shake with Rohit Sharma after dismissing him is also evident that a serious injury was on the cards.

Nurse played a match winning knock in the 3rd ODI – 40 runs and 2 wickets, but he has been ruled out of the fifth and final ODI in Thiruvananthapuram and will also be unavailable for the 3-match T20I series which starts from November 04.

Nurse scored 55 runs with the bat and bagged five wickets in the four ODIs he played against India in the ongoing West Indies tour of India. He was also the recipient of the ‘Player of the Match’ award in the 3rd ODI which West Indies won by a margin of 43 runs and helped them level the series at that point!

West Indies, for the 5th ODI, also dropped their struggling opener Chandrapaul Hemraj and brought in a bowler in his place! In the four ODIs Hemraj played in this series against India he scored just 70 runs – 9, 32, 15,14 are his scores at a mere average of 17.50.

West Indies will tour Bangladesh for 2 Tests, 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is after the completion of their ongoing tour of India. West Indian captain Jason Holder hopes his off spinner Ashley Nurse will be fit before the start of the Bangladesh tour.

“Ashley Nurse is ruled out for the entire tour [of India]. I wish him well. Hopefully, he can recover quickly for the next tour,” West Indies captain Jason Holder said at the toss of the 5th ODI against India in Thiruvananthapuram.
