They say hard-work truly does pay off at some point of time in life. The most recent example of that happened a few hours ago when a young and talented Pakistani all-rounder received a call-up to the national side, after continuous and consistent performances in the domestic circuit and in other franchise leagues across the world.
We’re talking about 25-year old bowling all-rounder Amad Butt who is currently in Abu Dhabi representing the Delhi Bulls franchise in the 2021 Abu Dhabi T10 League. Here, he’s got only 1 wicket in the 2 games he’s played for them so far but he’s been very economical and has bowled pretty smartly, to be honest.
Having represented the U-19 team of Pakistan a few years back, Butt has grown to represent a number of teams including Peshawar Zalmi and a 2-time winner with Islamabad United in the PSL in Pakistan, while also playing for the Jamaica Tallawahs in the CPL. Now, he received a call to play in green in the upcoming home series – Pakistan vs South Africa.
The Abu Dhabi T10 2021 ends on 6th February while the Pakistan vs South Africa T20I series is scheduled between 11-14 February, so we’re not sure of whether Butt will play any further part in the Abu Dhabi T10. The South Africa national side is already in Pakistan playing a 2-match Test series where they lost the 1st Test and the 2nd Test begins on 4th February.

It’s a big opportunity not just for Amad Butt but for many others who will be representing Pakistan for the first time in T20Is. Some of those who received surprise calls to play in the T20I series include Butt, Danish Aziz, Asif Ali, Aamer Yamin, Mohammad Nawaz, Zafar Gohar, Hassan Ali and Zahid Mehmood.
