When this league first came into existence in 2017, everyone was super anxious. They weren’t sure how exactly to feel about the fact that the shortest format of cricket was now no longer T20, but in fact T10. We’re talking about the Abu Dhabi T10 League which had its first edition as an experiment in 2017 but since then, it’s past the test of time and is a regular part of the annual franchise league cricket calendar.
There was a complete overhaul and revamp of the league after the second edition but since then, the format and teams have mostly been constant, with the total number of teams going from 6 to 8 from the Abu Dhabi T10 League 2022 edition and onwards. Morrisville Samp Army and New York Strikers were the two newest teams added but here, we’re diving into our complete Abu Dhabi T10 winners list…
Talking about winners of the Abu Dhabi T10 tournament, the first team to have won the tournament was the Kerala Kings who beat Punjabi Legends in the first edition in 2017. Unfortunately, both these teams won’t be able to improve on their history in this tournament because they’re both now defunct, having only played between the Abu Dhabi T10 2017-2018 seasons.

There was no official ‘Player of the Match’ awarded in thatAbu Dhabi T10 final in 2017 but with 63(21) that helped Kings over the line, it’s safe to say Eoin Morgan was the true hero of that game, while Luke Ronchi’s 70(34) was also a good knock that went in vain as Legends lost. We put up this list of past Abu Dhabi T10 winners during the 2023 Abu Dhabi T10 season, which means there were six completed seasons prior to this one. Northern Warriors and Deccan Gladiators are currently the most successful side in the tournament’s history till date, with Warriors getting to two titles first, and then the Gladiators winning successive seasons between 2021-22 and 2022.
The defending champions going into 2023 Abu Dhabi T10 League is Deccan Gladiators, completing massive victories of 56 runs and 37 runs each, in the two finals they’ve won in recent seasons. And we think another team that deserves a mention is Delhi Bulls as they’ve also made two consecutive finals in this tournament, still waiting to get their hands on the silverware.
Among the individual contributors, no player is yet to get the player of the match award in two different Abu Dhabi T10 League finals, with batsmen getting this award more times than not, and Maheesh Theekshana being the only one to be rewarded for his bowling.
