It was one hell of an evening in Ahmedabad as Chennai Super Kings beat Gujarat Titans to win their fifth Indian Premier League (IPL) title. There were plenty of twists and turns over the last couple of days where there were rain interruptions as well, but CSK ended victorious and got over the line when most needed, thanks mostly to their mastermind of a captain, MS Dhoni.
CSK won their fifth title but the crowds only wanted to know one thing – WILL MS DHONI BE BACK FOR ANOTHER SEASON?! Cricket fans didn’t care if CSK or GT won today. They didn’t care that the game ended at nearly 2am this morning. All they wanted to know was whether he’s going to make an announcement or not, in the post-match presentation.
MS Dhoni says he wants to be back in IPL 2024
“Circumstantially, this is the best time for me to retire,” said MS Dhoni to Harsha Bhogle in the post match presentation. Bhogle didn’t want to ask him about the match or anything at first. He wanted to answer whether he’s be back or not. And the answer wasn’t a simple one as he said he wants to be back, not for himself but because of the crowds and because of the love and affection he’s received from them.
He said he wants to be back only for them, but fitness allowing. It’s super demanding on your body and mind and he’s now 41 years old, which isn’t ever easy. He mentioned how he got so much of love and respect from fans across India and his eyes filled with tears at the start of the IPL 2023 season, humbled with the affection received. And yes, he mentioned that he wants to be back in IPL 2024.

If you’re reading this, you also want to see MS Dhoni IPL 2024 happening, but he said that he will make the final decision within the next 6-7 months, based on training and his fitness. It’s difficult to stay grounded when you have so much of love from millions of people but Dhoni has managed that, and he mentioned that it’s because the crowds relate to him.
He’s believe that he’s not extraordinary and that if he can do it, anyone can. But bottom line is that Dhoni isn’t going anywhere as of now and as MSD fans in the Read Scoops teams, we’re hoping he maintains his fitness levels over the next 9 months as well, and be back to defend the title for CSK in IPL 2023 too.
