6) Most IPL Wickets
Currently, this is a record held by none other than the legendary Sri Lankan pacer, Lasith Malinga. He has picked up 170 wickets in 122 IPL games, all of which he played for one franchise – Mumbai Indians. Now with Malinga pulling out of IPL 2020, in comes the chance of other bowlers creeping up closer to Malinga. The second on this list currently is leggie Amit Mishra who has 157 wickets in 147 IPL matches and he needs 14 wickets this season to get on top of the list. In IPL 2019, Mishra picked 11 wickets in 11 games for Delhi Capitals!
7) Most 4-fers in IPL cricket
It looks like there’s another record that can be passed because of Malinga’s absence in IPL 2020. Tied at the top of this list by miles, Lasith Malinga and Sunil Narine have picked up 4-fers or better in an IPL match on 7 occasions each and if Narine manages to do so again in IPL 2020, he will reach the top of this list, uncontested until next season. Below them, the likes of Andrew Tye, Ravindra Jadeja, Lakshmipathy Balaji and Amit Mishra are tied at 4 4-fers each. Narine’s last 4-fer in the IPL however, came all the way back in IPL 2015!
8) First to 350 IPL sixes
When you think sixes, you have to think Universe Boss, Chris Gayle. With regards to the list of the most sizes in IPL history, Gayle is way ahead of the competition with 326 sixes from 125 career IPL matches. Behind him, a long way away, are AB de Villiers (212 sixes) and MS Dhoni (209 sixes). So now, Gayle has the chance to further the gap in IPL 2020 and he needs 24 sixes this season to hit the 350-sixes mark. In IPL 2019, he hit 34 sixes and in IPL 2018, he hit 27 sixes, so there’s every chance he reaches this milestone this season!
9) Most IPL games as umpire
Didn’t expect this to be on our list, did you?! Well, batsmen and bowlers aren’t the only ones getting on the ground each IPL season and leading our list for most IPL matches officiated by an umpire is Sundaram Ravi with a total of 109 matches and a chance to push his lead further. ICC Elite List Umpire Kumar Dharmasena is next best with 94 games but he missed IPL 2019 and is set to miss IPL 2020 as he preferred to stay in Sri Lanka for safety reason. India’s Anil Chaudhary is next best with 78 games and S Ravi is set to improve his lead in IPL 2020!
10) 100 wicket-keeping dismissals
Having played 177 IPL matches, Robin Uthappa has effected a total of 90 dismissals behind the stumps, having played for 4 different IPL franchises so far. He’s all set to play for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2020 which will be his fifth IPL franchise and he’s 10 short of reaching 100 IPL dismissals as wicket-keeper. However, this milestone may or may not be reached as Royals have the likes of Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson who can also be wicket-keeping options. The only others to have 100+ dismissals in the IPL are MS Dhoni (132) and Dinesh Karthik (131).
