We witnessed a very special moment in today’s World Championship of Legends (WCL 2025) game between India Legends and South Africa Legends. Batting first, the ABD-led team put up a mammoth total of 208 which was a formidable score, and the former RCB player led the charge with an unbeaten fifty himself. Tahir’s first contribution in the game was in the 8th over as he came in to bowl to the elder Pathan brother. Yusuf and Stuart Binny were in hopes of rebuilding the innings and the former hoicked the first ball to mid-wicket, where a running AB de Villiers pulled off a stunner. He covered plenty of yards and put in a slide, caught the ball, and flicked it back inside as he was about to touch the ropes.

The presence of mind coupled with athleticism seen in ABD at the age of 41 is ridiculous, as he managed to save a certain boundary. Within the boundary, Sarel Erwee saw the opportunity and put in a diving effort to complete the catch. Cricketers are a little bit more relaxed and less competitive in these retired player’s leagues, because they aren’t playing for top honours anymore. Additionally, they are all aging and have to take care of their bodies better. However, ABD clearly hasn’t aged and this will not just be one of the best fielding efforts of the season, but in this tournament’s history itself!
