We’re not referring to a village or a far off location but we’re referring to one of the busiest cities in the world, if not the actual busiest. Wile Covid-19 has managed to keep the city quiet in recent months, a power failure on Monday morning across Mumbai suburbs was the latest interruption to services in the metropolitan city.
Several parts of the city faced a power outage early on Monday morning and early questions from media houses and TV channels are yet to be answered. “Due to grid failure, the supply of power in the city is disrupted,” said a Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport [BEST] spokesperson.

Juhu, Andheri, Mira Road, Navi Mumbai, Thane and Panvel were among the places to be majorly affected by the so-called grid failure. Businesses across the city will be affected early on Monday morning and answers are yet to be given. BEST Electricity posted on Twitter a while back and trust us, it wasn’t the best English we’ve seen in 2020 so far. “The electric supply is interrupted due to TATAs incoming electric supply failure. Inconveniences is regretted.”

We’ve never seen such a random blackout in Mumbai in years and could lead to losses of several lakhs for businesses. Residents as well as commercial establishments took to Twitter to vent their frustration regarding the same. The reason we believe is multiple tripping of lines and a transformer (Kalwa-Padghe and Khargar ICTs) supplying power to the city of Mumbai. It had a 360 MW supply and apparently, restoration could take up to an hour!
A reports on News18 suggested the tripping of Line 400 KV and restoration is underway. National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) confirmed that trading is unaffected while train services of Western (WR) and Central Railway (CR) have come to a standstill. Who is going to take the fall for this? Stay tuned to ReadScoops.com for more updates on this story…
