Not surprising, to be honest!
One man decides to take a step for the right, and he gets pulled down. Earlier today, we read news about comedian Kunal Kamra ‘disturbing’ and ‘harassing’ fellow passenger and reporter Arnab Goswami on-board an Indigo Airlines flight. To be honest, all he did was try to have an honest conversation with the journalist. Well maybe, the cuss words weren’t exactly required.
However, we at Read Scoops see no wrong in what Kamra did. We recently attended a show of Kamra’s and his political views were highly controversial, to say the least. But we liked them. At least someone had the courage to stand up to a government that isn’t producing the best results in our country since the last 5-6 years.
Coming back to today’s incident, Kamra ‘heckled’ his fellow passenger Arnab Goswami, the latter’s political views also becoming quite clear in the last couple of years. A highly reputed reporter who always took a stand for the right is today known as a puppet of the government, and all Kamra did today was ask him a few questions about his journalism. Here’s his first tweet after getting on the flight:
Met Arnab Goswami on a flight & gave him a monologue about his ‘journalism’
All he did was call me mentally unstable & after sometime I had no choice but to return to my seat.
The entire flight I’ll keep pretending to use the loo just to tell him he’s piece of SHIT
F*CK Arnab

Then, he posted a video of Arnab deciding to ignore him. They say Kamra was invading a fellow passenger’s personal space and privacy. Isn’t that what Arnab and Republic TV do with everyone, with their style of journalism? Kamra even asked him about the suicide of a certain Rohith Vemula over a caste issue, to which Arnab remained silent again. Take a look:
I did this for my hero…

He questioned Goswami and the latter decided to stay mum right through the conversation. Of course, Indigo Airlines decided to play it safe and ended up placing a 6-month ban on Kamra for being a nuisance on board flight 6E 5317 from Mumbai to Lucknow. In fact, Civil Aviation Minister of India and Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs in India, Hardeep Singh Puri, took it one step further asking every airline to take similar action against him.
See his tweet:
Offensive behaviour designed to provoke & create disturbance inside an aircraft is absolutely unacceptable & endangers safety of air travellers.
We are left with no option but to advise other airlines to impose similar restrictions on the person concerned. https://t.co/UHKKZfdTVS

Throughout the day, the drama has kept unfolding and instead of people supporting Kamra’s move today on board the Indigo flight, the country has gone against him, making hashtags like #KunalKamraBharwaHai and #KunalKachra trend on Twitter. In fact, even Air India went on to ban him from travels on their flights as well:
#FlyAI: In view of the incident onboard @IndiGo6E, Air India wishes to inform that conduct of Person concerned is unacceptable. With a view to discourage such behavior onboard flts, Mr Kunal Kamra is suspended from flying on any Air India flt until further notice. @HardeepSPuri .

His reply:
Thank you Indigo a six month suspension is honestly very kind of you…
Modiji might be suspending Air India forever. https://t.co/ari4erSE5F— Kunal Kamra (@kunalkamra88) January 28, 2020
Funny how Air India decided to ban a customer when they themselves have been struggling to get customers in recent months. Funny how we live in a democratic country but we’ve to think 15 times before we speak in favour of Kamra and people who take a stand in the same way. Later, IRCTC also announced their plan to ban such nuisance customers. Seems like water and road are his only options left now!
Regardless, a huge shout-out to Kunal and we hope the country gets its priorities right. He did what every man in his right mind could’ve and should’ve done. Having met Kamra personally, we don’t really think he’s ‘mentally unstable’. #Respect.
