For all those who watched Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014), you definitely would’ve been eager to watch Part 2 of the Kingsman film series. The first part received a 7.7 rating on IMDb, and even though you generally expect sequels to not do as well, I certainly loved Kingsman: The Golden Circle.
Firstly, let me tell you why Part 2 got its ‘R’ rating. The film is an action film and a lot of the fight scenes could be termed as extremely violent. Plus, there is abusive language throughout the film and also a little bit of sexual content.
Plot shift from Kingsman 1 to 2
Kingsman: The Secret Service was all about a spy organization based in UK and how they embarked on a mission to save the world against a notorious businessman. Part 2 starts off rather badly for Kingsman as their entire organization is wiped out, except for just two members – Eggsy & Merlin.
Carrying out the organization’s ‘Doomsday Protocol’, they realize that they have a far off cousin in the US known as the Statesman, and the entire movie is about these two teaming up to save the world, although our heroes from Kingsman 1 are still the heroes here.
Spoiler Alert
You have the option of whether or not you want to keep reading 😛
Firstly, we’re all glad to know that Harry Hunt (Colin Firth) from Part 1 is still alive. Our protagonist Eggsy (Taron Egerton) helps in jogging back Harry’s lost memory, and helping him realize that he doesn’t study butterflies, but is in fact a member of a spy organization.
Eggsy thinks his girlfriend Princess Tilde may have ended their relationship due to things he had to do for the mission to be successful (sleep with another girl). However, with her life at stake, he is spurred on to do whatever it takes to take down the villain Poppy Adams (Julianne Moore).
At the Statesman, the two from Kingsman meet Agent Tequila (Channing Tatum), and even though I was excited to see him in the movie, he didn’t have much of a role to play in the film as he was affected by the drug supplied by The Golden Circle drug cartel, which was a part of their plan to take over the world.
The once upon a time Bond girl and extremely talented actress Halle Berry was also a part of the Statesman as Ginger Ale; though not a field agent. However, the end suggested that there will certainly be a third part to this film series, where the likes of Halle & Channing may have a bigger role to play.

All in all, this was a movie I wouldn’t mind watching again and again, and I will be eagerly awaiting the release of Kingsman 3. The film series is all set to be the next best thing, probably taking over the likes of ‘Men in Black’, ‘Taken’, or even the ‘James Bond’ series.
Director Matthew Vaughn has certainly done a good job with the film, in spite of having to face a few controversies. Also, I won’t forget to tell you that the cameo that Elton John plays in the movie is absolutely hilarious!
