Lockdown Workout Challenge – Day 7

5 exercises a day, 3 rounds in each session – that’s the basic routine I’ve been following on a daily basis in my 21-Day Lockdown Workout Challenge. The initial few days were tough because my body wasn’t used to a daily workout routine, but for the last four days, I’ve been completing the workout targets of the challenge!

Lockdown Workout Challenge - Day 7

I’ve been giving daily updates on this challenge in case it inspires anyone else to get a little productive with the added time on their hands during this lockdown period, and you can read my Day 6 workout update here. It follows the same pattern, mostly. The only exception is that the exercises are shuffled up and well, it does getting tougher each day.

I’m not going to lie – I didn’t think I’d stick by this routine for more than 3-4 day. I’ve done it countless times in the past – Start and Stop within the week. However, this time’s different. The workouts are specially designed to work on every muscle in your body and improve core strength, perfect for those who want to be strong and fit, and not just a buffed up bodybuilder. Day 7 workout:

  • Calf raises – 20x each side.
  • Mountain climbers – 40 seconds.
  • Russian twist – 30 seconds.
  • Femoral bridge – 25x.
  • Decline push ups – 18x.

To be honest, after gruelling sessions on my legs and chest and triceps, I actually liked the Day 7 routine. For the first time, I ended a workout without huffing and puffing and laying dead on the floor for 10-15 minutes. Today’s workout was more ab-centric and that’s something I can work on all day. The Russian twists preceded by the mountain climbers were fantastic and if I did those everyday for the last few months, I’d have a well cut out 8-pack stomach by now.

The only exercise I was struggling with was the decline push ups. However, I worked on my form a little bit and felt the pressure transfer from lower back to the chest and shoulders where it’s supposed to be. It’s the only exercise I wasn’t looking forward to but I guess one good thing about it is that I knew it would be the end of the workout once I was done with it. Overall, 40:42 minutes is how long it took!

It’s just 7 days into my working out at home sessions but I’m already feeling a few changes. The first of them is the ability to get better sleep and wake up easily the next morning. I guess it’s too early to talk about more changes since I’m only 33% through this challenge but you can stay tuned to ReadScoops.com for more updates on this journey…
