When I looked at the schedule of Day 11 of my workout challenge, I was happy. I knew I would be able to do it, though it wasn’t the easiest. I wasn’t scared looking at the routine. There were a couple of new exercises introduced to the routine, and was excited to try them out. By the way, the 21-Day Challenge is a calisthenics body workout challenge, training every muscle and increasing the stakes on a daily basis.
It took me a week before I could move from Day 9 to Day 10 because the latter was a very leg-heavy day and I dreaded that. That tenth day left me dead with all the colour being drained from my face. While it was tough, that motivated me to keep going and kept me aware that I can push myself more than what I initially thought.

The 10-minute warm-up helps and today, we added something called Burpees to the workout. One glance at it and there was a smirk but by the time it was Round 3 of this workout, I couldn’t feel my quadriceps anymore. It was only 12 reps per set, so most may argue that it’s not a lot. But for a person like me who hasn’t worked out regularly over the years, it was tough beyond the first set. Day 11 workout:
- Burpees – 12x.
- Advanced plank – 30 seconds.
- Single leg box step-up – 14x each side.
- Isometric push-ups – 25 seconds.
- Lumbar crunches – 20x.
Another introduction was the advanced plank. If I have to be honest with you, I’m not sure why it’s called advanced. 30 seconds of a normal plank and you can start feeling the pressure but I felt this plank position didn’t really hit me as much. Initially, I thought I was doing it wrong but checked my form and structure 5 times to make sure. Probably, it was intentional to have a lighter exercise after the burpees.

Burpees were like a mix of squats, push ups and jumping jacks. The advanced plank was for your abs and chest, the step-ups were leg exercises, isometric push-ups for your chest and back and the lumbar crunches for your abs and lower back. The point I was trying to make is that these workouts work out every muscle in your body and IF I ever complete 21 days of this challenge, I can call myself a tough man.
38:42 minutes was the total time of the workout and that’s quite a good time for such a packed workout, with breaks between sets of just 65 seconds each. However, it’s only going to get tougher with something called Sphinx push-ups being introduced in Day 12 of this lockdown challenge. Stay tuned to ReadScoops.com for more updates from this challenge…
