In a shock incident taking place on Thursday night in USA, rapper Huey was shot dead at the age of just 31 years. Born as Lawrence Franks Jr., the rapper was mostly known for his hit single ‘Pop, Lock & Drop It’ (2007) which hit the charts while he was still a teenager, which saw him rise to fame at an early age!
However, the fame was short lived as he was gunned down yesterday in Kinloch, Missouri, a city around 15 miles away from St. Louis. The St. Louis County police confirmed on Friday that a double shooting took place at the crime scene and Huey was taken to a nearby hospital where he arrived with at least one gunshot wound.
It’s reported that the 31-year old rapper was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival at the hospital and investigations are currently underway. No arrests have been made in relation to the shooting and no motive has been found just as yet. “Detectives believe as many as ten other individuals were present in and around the crime scene during the occurrence of this incident. Investigators strongly encourage those that are potential witnesses to please contact them,” said the police.

“It came across my social media. My mouth dropped. It is just unbelievable. What’s really sad is he was actually working on new material. So, at a time when we are going through so much as a society or city in particular, he was doing something positive and what he was known for doing best. He was making music, making music for the people,” said Alonzo Lee, a friend of Huey and Grammy-award winner.
Another victim was a 21-year old who went to the Ferguson Police Department but with wounds that were not life-threatening. The shoting took place at the 8100 block of Martin Luther King in Kinloch just before 11pm on Thursday night. His hit 2007 song spent 23 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, getting to a highest spot of number #6.
