We’re big entertainment buffs at Read Scoops and we don’t miss any of the new big releases on Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hotstar, or any of the other top digital streaming platforms. One of the major releases this month was Rana Naidu for Netflix India which is the Indian adaptation of 2013 crime TV series thriller, Ray Donovan, starring Liev Schreiber.
The Rana Naidu remake has already gone on to become super popular among Indian audiences, with Rana Naidu release date on Netflix being 10th March 2023. Directed and produced for India by Karan Anshuman and Sunder Aaron respectively, the show got a little bit of flak for being a Western copy but there are plenty of positives to take from it too. Read below for our Rana Naidu ending explained…
Rana Naidu plot explained
The web-series is basically the story of Hyderabadi-born Rana Naidu (played by Rana Daggubati) who has clients and is the man to ‘fix’ anything for them. Any problem with Bollywood and other celebrities can be solved by him but things start going out of control when his father Naga (played by Venkatesh Daggubati) returns after completing a 15-year jail sentence.
The Rana Naidu cast and crew made the series what it is and the intensity keeps rising as you move deeper into Rana Naidu Season 1, which has a total of 10 episodes. Suddenly, new characters are introduced and the plot intensifies, with several twists and turns. The show depicts the battle between Rana and Naga, and untold truths of the past keep getting revealed as well.

The Rana Naidu plot reveals that Naga was wrongly framed and sentenced to 20 years in jail. His arch-nemesis turns out to be Surya (played by Ashish Vidyarthi) who is also his elder brother and the person who Rana reaches out to, to kill Naga towards the end of the season. The Rana Naidu director didn’t fail to impress on the audience the conflicting emotions when it comes to family ties as well.
Rana has a lot of trouble in adjusting to his roles as a husband and father, even though he loves his family. He is constantly in conflict with his father and realises he sometimes makes the same mistakes as a father, with his own children. Either way, Rana Daggubati brought out one of his best performances on screen, with his dialogue, anger, raw emotion, and several scenes of good action as well.
Rana Naidu ending explained
Towards the end of Rana Naidu web-series, Naga tells Surya the truth that Rana was the mastermind behind everything, and that he didn’t kill Surya’s girlfriend of 15 years ago, Deeya. Surya has a change of heart knowing the real story after all these years and he decides to let Naga free, while also partnering with him to get to politician OB Mahajan, Rana, and actor Prince Reddy.
They managed to get into Prince’s house on the night of the Showbiz Awards and they kill him by hanging, making it look like a suicide. Rana’s son Ani gets traumatised as he was the first one to see Prince’s body hanging in his house. Now, Rana is more upset as Naga got his family involved, while also threatening to come after him now.

Further, Rana kills Maharaj after it’s revealed that his brother Jaffa wasn’t the only one raped by the ‘Godman’ when the Naidu brothers were young. Jaffa trapped Maharaj and brought him to their studio, where Rana shoots him in the head. Rana’s wife Naina (Played by Surveen Chawla) reveals to Naga that Rana was also raped as a kid and that Naga was a failure as a father, not being there for his children.
After learning this, Naga decides to make amends and tries to talk to his son. In a showdown and the Rana Naidu web-series climax, Naga turns sides and betrays Surya, choosing his flesh and blood, and siding his son. He saves Rana from being killed and shoots Surya, saving his son. In return, Rana saved Naga by lying to a CBI officer that another CBI officer Eijaz Sheikh was killed by Surya, and not Naga.

Eventually, the Rana Naidu ending was one that we’d expected to have a million times better. Naga chose family but the father and son didn’t amend their relationship. Rana asked Naga to leave the country and never be seen in Mumbai again, while giving him a little money as well. Naga reveals that he’ll go to Kathmandu, and there’s no cliffhanger which makes us believe that there’s a Rana Naidu Season 2.
