Murshid web-series review

The story revolves around a reformed gangster in Bombay, who decided to pick up violence once again after his son was hurt and falsely accused of murdering three members of the Taliban. In order to save his son’s life, Murshid gets into the thick of things and starts getting his revenge, holding an edge over his rivals at all times.

Even though he was out of the business for a very long time, he had old friends who he helped through their bad times, and many of them return to help him in his new journey. Virwani plays the role of his adopted son, but we’d have liked to have seen him getting a longer and more meaningful role. However, it’s assumed that he will have that if there’s going to be a Murshid Season 2.

Towards the end as Farid comes to kill Murshid, there’s a complete U-turn in the Murshid plot as the assistant commissioner hands Murshid the gun instead of giving it to Farid. It’s later then revealed that Murshid visited the opposition political party head and recently crowned Maharashtra Chief Minister, Jayendra Rao (Rajesh Shringarpure), where they planned the events that followed.

It was revealed that Murshid cut a deal with Jayendra to make him the next Chief Minister, which included having a make a sacrifice (his father’s death). They planned it out well and the sympathy from the country got him the required votes to become CM. That’s how Jayendra went on to become CM and he repaid Murshid by handing him Farid, who Murshid then killed in a so-called ‘encounter’.
