Just a few hours ago, Katy Perry was unveiled by Forbes Magazine as the highest-paid woman in music across the world. Forbes released its annual list today and Katy Perry climbed to the NUMBER 1 position thanks to reported earnings of $83 million during the qualifying period of June 2017 to June 2018.
Most of Perry’s earnings are thanks to her Witness tour, wherein she is said to have earned close to $1 million per night. Another major source of her income during the June-to-June year was ABC’s popular reality show called American Idol, where Katy Perry was called on as a judge and was paid around $20 million as fees for the same.
This isn’t the first time that Perry has managed to top this list, having also done the same in 2015 thanks to her successful Prismatic tour. In 2018, the American singer/songwriter beat her competitor Taylor Swift, who was not too far behind, with a reported $80 million in earnings during the year, thanks mainly to her November 2017 album ‘Reputation’, which sold 2 million copies within the first week itself.
Taking third place on this prestigious money list was none other than Beyoncé, who ended with $60 million, pretty distant from the top two on the list. Rounding up the top ten on the list is pop sensation Britney Spears, who has been active for two decades and is still earning the big bucks. $30 million was her earnings during the year.

The list calculates pre-tax earnings of all the richest women in music from around the world, before deducting expenses related to payments from agents, managers, lawyers, estate executors and the likes. This was a huge jump for Perry on this list, catapulting from #9 on the same list that she featured on last year.
