Over the past few weeks, the Johnny Depp vs Amber Heard trial has been out there in the public for everyone to know what’s happening. Amber Heard countersued her former husband for $100 million after Depp originally sued her for an amount of $50 million. Over the past many days, we’ve been enjoying the drama unfolding in the courtroom in Virginia, USA.
We saw we’ve been enjoying it because the people in the courtroom seemed to be having a lot of fun as well. We saw everything from Heard faking posing (crying) when she knew the cameras were on her, to Depp giggling during various incidents, to the latter even drawing and doodling during the trial. Now finally, the judgment has been passed in this defamation case.
Johnny Depp wins defamation case
The 58-year old actor best known for portraying the character of Captain Jack Sparrow over multiple movies since the last decade or so, was subject to a lot of charges during the case. From assault to defamation and more, quite a few accusations were put on him. However, the jury found that he was guilty of defamation and Heard has been ordered to pay $15 million in damages for the same.
But on the countersuit, Depp was also ordered to pay a small amount of $2 million in damages to his ex wife. The result was declared today at Fairfax County Circuit Court in Virginia, at 3 pm local time and that was just a few minutes before we wrote this article. In a statement after the case result was out, Heard said that she was ‘disappointed’ and ‘heartbroken’.

She said that she was sad to have lost the case but was sadder that she lost her rights as an American – to speak freely and openly. She wrote about all these emotions and more in a heartfelt note on social media, posting it for her followers on Twitter. In fact, it was a two-post note which you can see here below:

On the other hand, Johnny Depp was super thrilled about the result and his statement included the words that the ‘jury gave him his life back’. It’s super true because since years after the initial accusations, he has been subject to a lot of judgment from fans and others alike. Surely, no one would like to be termed as a maniac and physical abuser. Take a look at some of the reactions on Twitter:

Depp himself also had a lot to say after this meaningful victory in court. He took to his Instagram account to pen what he had to say to all his millions of fans around the world. He mentioned how his life and that of those around him was changed in a blink of an eye around 6 years ago, due to false but very serious accusations.
