Bollywood and the Indian entertainment industry has accepted Nora Fatehi as one of the best actress dancers we have in the country right now. And she often proves it with item songs and guest appearances in movies, and the frequent music videos as well. Her most recent music video has gone viral now, where fans have compared her to the legendary Shakira.
The new dance number was released by Guru Randhawa titled ‘Dance Meri Rani’ and it was posted online yesterday, 21st December 2021. This is somewhat a sequel song to ‘Naach Meri Rani’ which was done by Randhawa and Fatehi itself and had 700+ million views on YouTube. As for the second one, it’s received 19+ million views within the first 24 hours itself.
As for the song itself, the tune and the chorus is pretty flat and that’s a review from Read Scoops as well as other Hindi music fans online. However, the views are being generated less for the sing itself but for the way Fatehi has grooved to this new track. She’s outdone herself in this video, with blonde curls and a beige crochet bikini, which has a striking resemblance to international pop sensation, Shakira.
Now it’s not very often that you can compare someone to the Colombian dancer/singer who has entertained millions of fans around the world for a couple of decades now. And while Fatehi is among the best dancers in India right now, some fans online say that maybe the producers of the song shouldn’t have gone on to outright copy Shakira.

If you look well enough, you’ll see that it’s not only the choreography that resembles Shakira’s style, but it’s also the wardrobe choices and the hairstyle. There’s a difference between taking inspiration and outright copying, and the fans feel it’s the latter that has happened in Dance Meri Rani, the music video being presented by Gulshan Kumar and T-Series.
The video begins with Randhawa meeting a mermaid on the beach, who then transforms into a woman upon being touched by Randhawa. She then dances her way right through the video, which will remind you of Shakira in some of her iconic music videos like ‘Hips Don’t Lie’. Similarly, the video ends with Randhawa touching her and the woman being transformed back into a mermaid, who then disappears.

While the overall video was received well around the country, a lot of users have criticised it because of its lack of originality. Dance Meri Rani singers are Guru Randhawa and Zahrah S Khan, with the music done by Tanishk Bagchi and lyrics by Rashmi Virag.
