A Twitter user posted on social media saying: “Once BLACKPINK has their comeback stage, I am going to shoot BLACKPINK’s Lisa, and you can say goodbye to your bias because that’s the last time you’ll ever see her ugly face again.”
Thailand Embassy in Korea also confirmed the death threat to Lisa on twitter. According to the Embassy, they have received emails and direct messages from May 2 to 6 regarding the threats made online against Lisa’s Life. The embassy also added that they are already notified Lisa’s agency YG entertainment about the death threat.
YG Entertainment recently released a statement regarding Lisa’s death threat saying that they will take this issue seriously.
“At YG Entertainment, we are doing our best for the safety and protection of our artists and fans. We are aware of this current situation, and not only are we doing our own constant monitoring, but we are also collecting and going through information sent to us by fans. We will be taking strong action against these threats,” YG Entertainment’s statement read.
Hundreds of thousands of netizens criticize the account. The account was later suspended for violating the platform’s Terms of Service. Many fans of the girl group in the Chinese community are outrage regarding the threatening behavior. Many of them also express support, giving comforting messages to Lisa. The hashtag of the news regarding Lisa’s death threat had earned 1.23 billion views on Chinese Twitter-like Sina Weibo within 24 hours.
Not the first threat
It is not the first time that Lisa has received death threats. Last April, a user on Instagram also posted a photo of the singer beneath a tomb. The user used the caption “I will kill Lisa. I have my gun already.”
Lisa also received a number of death threats online way back in 2018. An Instagram user wrote the threat on a bio tagging Lisa’s account. The bio is read like this “I’m about to get involved in the stabbing or shooting that will soon happen @lalalalisa_m from Blackpink”.
The account was also deleted afterward. But a new account that appears to be the co-conspirator of the first account popped up. The account shared a story saying that their plans to harm Lisa would not be discouraged even though the first account has been deleted.
Blackpink new album
In a statement released by YG Entertainment, the agency confirmed the Blackpink’s comeback in June. According to reports, the girl group had finished recording new songs and currently scheduling for filming the music video. Some reports also said that Blackpink worked with both leading domestic and international producers.
