In a recent interview, Barbra Streisand has revealed that she successfully made clones of her 14-year old dog before she died last year. Yes, she made not one, but two clones of her Coton de Tulear pet dog called Samantha, having taken cells from the dog’s mouth and stomach to make this possible.
Most people only hope they can spend their entire lives with their pets but since pets don’t have such long a lifespan, these hopes get dashed. However, if you’re Barbra Streisand, and you’re net worth is close to $400 million, chances are that you can make this happen, just as she made it happen.
She created the two clones from Samantha before she died so that she wouldn’t miss her pet too much. She has named the two pets Miss Scarlett and Miss Violet, after the colours she dressed them in (red and lavender) when they first arrived, to distinguish between the two. They are still too young for Barbra to know how similar they will be to her original pet.
The 75-year actress from New York is a well known figure in the industry, having made hit albums like ‘Guilty, Stoney End, Partners’ and more, and acted in hit movies like ‘Funny Girl, Meet the Fockers’ and others. Clearly, the world is changing and new technologies keep flowing in. Maybe one day, I’d want to clone something or someone as well.
