For those growing up in the 1990’s, there was nothing bigger than Harry Potter, a fiction series based on wizards and witches that went to a school of witchcraft and wizardry. However, for those born in the 21st century and onwards, the biggest hit so far has been Game of Thrones, a series that lasted 8 long seasons between 2011-2019 on HBO.
They’re miles apart in terms of audiences as well as in terms of the generation gap. However, Read Scoops made a recent observation that there were not one or two, but quite a few common members of the cast in the two epics. In fact, we decided to share the same with all of you as well. So, here’s a look at 5 Harry Potter cast members who starred in Game of Thrones too:
1) Nymphadora Tonks
Also known as just Tonks or ‘Dora’ in Harry Potter, she was British half-blood witch and a Metamorphmagus. She plays a full of life character in the Harry Potter series, and one loved by all. The 35-year old actress Natalia Tena was also part of HBO’s saga Game of Thrones where she played the wildling, Osha.
2) Hermione’s Mom
She was best known for playing the role of Mrs. Granger, muggle mother of one of the main actors of the Harry Potter series, Hermione Granger. Northern Ireland’s Michelle Fairley is the actress and she also had a small role in Game Of Thrones between 2011-13, playing Catelyn Stark in the series.
3) Argus Filch
Being a squib and the caretaker of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Argus Filch plays a vital role right through the Harry Potter series, though his character was one you would’ve hated. Now 78 years old, actor David Bradley played this role and also played Walder Frey in the HBO series, Game of Thrones.
4) Horace Slughorn
Another elderly actor who did well in both the sagas. Being potions teacher and Head of Slytherin House in Harry Potter, Horace Slughorn was a pure-blood wizard who worked for 50 years at Hogwarts. Today 70 years old, Jim Broadbent more recently did Game of Thrones where he appeared as Archmaester Ebrose in the seventh season!
5) Aberforth Dumbledore
While he was more known as the brother of Hogwarts Headmaster Albus Dumbledore, Aberforth was also the owner and barman at the Hog’s Head Inn in Hogsmeade. He played a crucial role in the series while in Game of Thrones, the Northern Irish actor Ciarán Hinds played the role of Gaius Julius Caesar.
